Carolyn Balnaves is a Senior Organisational Psychologist at the Centre for Corporate Health Pty Ltd, providing psychological assessments for several of the large insurers specialising in psychological injury claims for Workers’ Compensation. Carolyn spent many years working in the rehabilitation sector for a national rehabilitation provider, working with individuals suffering from a range of physical and mental health conditions. During this time she was involved in psychological assessment, counselling, case management and vocational assessments/retraining. She has completed numerous medico-legal assessments, section 40 assessments and pre-liability assessments for individuals suffering from a range of physical and/or psychological injuries, and experiencing multiple barriers impacting their capacity for employment.
Carolyn is a specialist in the area of occupational stress, psychological assessment and employee development. She has worked with individuals and organisations to improve organizational functioning and targets intervention in this area from both an individual and organisational perspective. For over 20 years Carolyn has focused her career on helping individuals function better at work, particularly by improving employee job-fit and role-suitability, enhancing personal resilience and team effectiveness, improving engagement and workplace relationships.
Carolyn’s depth of psychological, management and human resource consulting experience has enabled her to deal effectively with the most complex and sensitive situations to achieve positive outcomes. Throughout Carolyn’s career, she has provided psychological, rehabilitation and intervention services to a range of public and private sector organisations from the following industries: Research & Academic Institutions, Emergency Services, Banking and Finance, Transport and Logistics, Manufacturing/Commercial, Pharmaceuticals, Community Services, Health & Rehabilitation, Aeronautical industry and the Legal Profession. Carolyn works with staff ranging from team member level to Senior Executives in the following consulting areas: Occupational stress & grievance matters, Psychological assessment, Employee satisfaction and culture surveys, Assessment / development centres, Career development & transition, Change management, Management and career coaching and Workshop facilitation specialising in resilience, people management and interpersonal skills.
Carolyn has a Masters in Organisational Psychology, First Class from the University of New South Wales. She also has a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology, with honours from the University of New South Wales a Graduate Diploma of Psychology from the University of Western Sydney in 2006, and a Bachelor of Business majoring in Marketing from Charles Sturt University in 1991.
